gaycities.com – Spencer Day on pride, performing and why moms love his golden voice

Beloved queer crooner Spencer Day is a busy guy, no more so than during pride month when he’ll performing in clubs from LA to SF to NYC.

“My birthday happens to fall on the Stonewall anniversary, which is fun,” he told GayCities in early June.

Catch him in San Francisco at Feinstein’s at the Nikko June 14-15.

And then he’ll perform at Rockwell Table & Stage Sunday night June 16.

The shows will include material from his recent album “Angel City” and a preview of his upcoming Broadway-based collection of Rodgers & Hammerstein (“Bali Ha’i”), Lionel Bart (“Who Will Buy”), Jerry Herman (“It Only Takes a Moment”) and more. With any luck, he’ll pull off his lovely ode to Southern California life, “72 and Sunny.”

Spencer took a little time out of his busy touring schedule to talk about performing, his Mormon family, and where he most loves to celebrate pride.

spectrumnews1.com – 10 Things I Hate About You Musical Parody Incorporates Social Issues

You likely know the 1999 teen classic 10 Things I Hate About You. It’s celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

While Garrett Clayton is starring in an updated parody version of the film, it’s a storyline that’s timeless.

“There wasn’t a woman who fawned after a man. It wasn’t about how she changed herself to fit into his world. She knew who she was, he knew who he was, and it was about the love they had for each together,” said Clayton.

Clayton plays Patrick, the role played by Heath Ledger in the film. You may not know this version of the hit, though, just in time for the film’s 20th anniversary. Rockwell Table & Stage’s Unauthorized Musical Parody Of (UMPO) Series takes on the cult classic – but with a twist.
