If you think COVID-19 has screwed up your career even before you’ve had one, join the crowd. Some 20.5 million people have lost jobs or had employment opportunities disappear over the past two months. Yes, it sucks, just like it did for the 8.8 million who had no paycheck during the 2008 financial crisis. But many of those people ended up in better situations than the ones they left behind.
Mullings suggests finding 20 companies you’d like to work at, then follow them and the people who work there. Look at 10 of their posts and find 10 to “like,” four to comment on and two to share. Add something useful to the conversation. That way you’ll be seen as part of their circle.
