Chef Wayne Elias Featured on LA-Confidential Magazine Online

| Mar 25, 2016

Los Angeles Confidential recently asked 5 LA chefs for their best tips to host the perfect Easter fête. Rockwell Table & Stage’s Wayne Elias was one of the chefs who shared their secrets to host your own next-level easter soirée.

One of his main tips is to keep it simple and buffet style, saying “I like a buffet because you can serve room temp/cold dishes and only have two hot items that you can pre-cook hours before your guests arrive. I would serve a roast leg of lamb with garlic, rosemary, and lavender herbs; a bibb lettuce salad with English stilton cheese [and] zinfandel vinaigrette; mini Easter ham quiche tarts; asparagus wrapped with prosciutto; and a mustard tarragon dip. For drinks, I would do a vodka cosmo with a large jelly bean garnish on the side of the glass [or a] chocolate mint martini with a mini chocolate rabbit on the rim.”

Students to learn money management through music

Gooding, a band leader who goes by his last name only, is passionate about two things: money management and rock ‘n’ roll.

It sounds like an unusual combination, but for Gooding they go hand-in-hand. The stop is part of their Funding the Future tour, which is sponsored by Raymond James Financial. The March 28 concert is for COD students only. Students can attend for free.

Lisa Vanderpump on the Cover of Tails Magazine!

| Mar 30, 2016

You can learn a lot about Lisa Vanderpump just from listening to her tagline in the opening sequence of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: “I am passionate about dogs, just not crazy about bitches,” she says, looking effortlessly glamorous in her floor-length pink gown.

Watch even one episode of RHOBH or her other addictively entertaining Bravo reality show Vanderpump Rules and you’ll see that it’s true. Lisa doesn’t take sass from anyone— she doesn’t need to. She’s way too busy with philanthropy and running her restaurant empire (26 and counting) to deal with nonsense or attitude. As for her passion for dogs, it’s confirmed every time she is near any member of her furry brood.

Lisa Vanderpump: How to Support A Cause That Matters To You

I was brought up with incredible, avant-garde, liberal parents who were just so accepting. They were very strict when it came to manners, upbringing and politeness, but they were passionate about equality. I learned the importance of compassion early on. My social activism is driven by that compassion: When I see people struggling, when I see people who are misunderstood, I want to do something.

If you feel the same drive to help others, here are my best suggestions for where to start.

Forget what you think you know about social activism
It doesn’t have to mean attending protests or traveling to impoverished areas to build houses. Sometimes I go visit with children suffering from alopecia. My dog, Giggy, also suffers from this disease. So I’ll bring him with me and say to the children, “This is one of the most famous dogs in the world, and he’s got alopecia. He’s been on Dancing with the Stars. Do you think he’s cuter with fur or without fur?” And all of them say, “Oh no, we love him the way he is.” And I’ll say, “Well, that’s the way your mommy loves you, and that’s how the world sees you.” That may not be your typical idea of what “counts” as social activism, but it’s making a difference to those children.
