Rockwell Table & Stage presents the brand-new “Unauthorized Musical Parody of Stranger Things” (UMPO). The show tackles Netflix’s cult phenomenon, Stranger Things — just in time for the Halloween season!

Set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, the critically acclaimed Netflix series focuses on the investigation into the disappearance of a young boy amidst supernatural events occurring around the town, including the appearance of a peculiar girl with psychokinetic abilities who helps the missing boy’s friends in their own search. Rockwell brings to life the Duffer Brothers’ mix of investigative drama, supernatural elements, and 80s nostalgia, with a diverse cast, live band, and a spate of pop songs from that era sure to thrill audiences.

The talented team who spoofed Bridesmaids, Clueless, Jurassic Park, Hocus Pocus, and Home Alone to hilarious effect take satirical aim at Stranger Things, the latest of their Unauthorized Musical Parody series at Rockwell Table + Stage and one of UMPO’s best.

You don’t have to have seen the hit Netflix series to find yourself singing (or lip-syncing) along to hit songs like Blondie’s “Call Me,” Donna Summer’s “She Works Hard For The Money,” Michael Sembello’s “Maniac,” Irene Cara’s “Flashdance,” and Radiohead’s “Creep” performed by some of the most gifted triple-threats in town, but to get the most of writer Kate Pazakis’s hilarious collection of in-jokes, here’s a primer for those who’ve missed out on the Steven Spielberg/John Carpenter/Stephen King-inspired horror drama, or at least the first season that gets UMPOed here.

The Duffer brothers and company have turned out two excellent seasons of their love letter to ’80s culture and all-around sci-fi goodness, Stranger Things. While fans wait to binge on a third season (expected next year), the show gets Rockwell Table & Stage’s venerable “Unauthorized Musical Parody of…” treatment. The Unauthorized Musical Parody of Stranger Things transports viewers to Hawkins, Indiana — with a twist. The audience has a say in who lives and who dies via rolling dice, Choose Your Own Adventure–style. The production features a live band plus Tony winner Marissa Jaret Winokur (Hairspray), Eric Petersen, Emma Hunton and Garrett Clayton. As always, there’s a two-drink/-item minimum, so come hungry and/or thirsty.
