Dubbed the Queen of the White Party, and an unrelenting advocate for LGBT rights, Lisa Vanderpump was honored with a permanent home on Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs.

“I will continue to support you, and stand on your behalf,” Vanderpump told the ranks of LGBT fans and the gaggle of media assembled Wednesday morning at Mercado Plaza for her admittance into the Palm Springs Walk of Stars. Vanderpump received the 372nd star.

“There’s nothing better than having a straight advocate for our gay causes,” said Jeffrey Sanker, creator of the White Party in Palm Springs. Gala of The Royal Horses Featured in The Tennessean!

Royal Horses dance into Bridgestone Arena

Horse lovers and British royalty followers alike will be treated to the spectacle that is The Gala of the Royal Horses on Saturday at Bridgestone Arena, marking the show’s first-ever North American tour.

The stars of the show are some of the best trained horses in the world, performing tricks and maneuvers that take years to master. However, Rene Gasser, creator and producer of the show, said the difficulty of the performance often is lost on the audience.

“There is a lot more behind it than sometimes the audience thinks. It’s not all just glitter and stardust,” Gasser said.

The tradition of these horses goes back centuries, when the majestic movements were used for military purposes. The more beautiful and talented the horse, the more distinguished the rider, often indicating military rank or royalty. The horse tricks also had practical applications on the battlefield for stomping enemies. However, most of the movements were used for parades in which the horses would trot and goose step like the marching soldiers.

In addition to the dancing royal horses, Saturday’s show also will feature musicians and Spanish flamenco dancers to entertain the crowd. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $23.45-$59.50, on sale now online at Bridgestonearena.com.
